1. A white tail plane is one that has been built but has no customer. 2. Shortly before the fatal flight, the tail plane was modified in an attempt to improve control. 3. The control surfaces were horn balanced and the tail plane incidence could be trimmed in flight. 4. The tail plane is the missing element on the model to commemorate the cause of the accident. 5. A " Super Canberra ", including other XB-51 features, such as swept wings and tail planes , was proposed. 6. The tail plane featured two large oval vertical stabilizers mounted at the ends of a rectangular horizontal stabilizer. 7. The aircraft had a shoulder-wing and twin booms supporting vertical stabilisers with a tail plane joining the two booms. 8. The works were also involved in constructing Bailey bridges and the tail planes for Airspeed Horsa gliders for the invasion. 9. Addition work included moving elements of the wings being produced in the Netherlands, and Spain producing the horizontal tail plane . 10. Most airliners and transport aircraft feature a large, slow-moving " trimmable tail plane " which is combined with independently-moving elevators.
